About the Wine

In addition to growing great cabernet sauvignon, the climate and soils of Paso Robles give us the opportunity to make distinct, high-quality wines using the mix of grape varieties associated with the Southern Rhône Valley of France: grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre. After using these varieties for a few of our wines, like FOCUS, SAVANT, and our Syrah for many years, we decided to introduce TRILATERAL, a “GSM” blend featuring syrah as the anchor variety. This limited and highly acclaimed JUSTIN wine has quickly become one of our more popular offerings. It’s a classic Paso Robles expression of these traditionally Rhône grape varieties with ripe, complex fruit and subtle baking spice up front.

Body

LightMediumFull

Appearance

Bright with a dark ruby core with a purple hue in the glass, lightening toward the rim with tears that are moderately thick and lightly stained.

Aroma

The nose blossoms with air into a complex mélange of ripe berries – blackberry, strawberry, and raspberry liqueur shaded by dried herbs and savory barrel spice notes.

Palate

Medium-bodied with flavors of red raspberry, pomegranate, cranberry, and strawberry on fresh entry. The midpalate turns savory with notes of rose, sage, rosemary, and black olive, followed by notes of leather and cured meat. The long, rich finish lingers with savory spice and restrained oak notes accenting smooth ripe fruit flavors.
