Appearance: Nearly opaque, dark black/purple core going to medium purple/violet at the rim with thick tears and moderate staining of the glass.
Aroma: Fragrant with black cherry, blackberry and ripe plum fruit integrated with barrel spice, cedar, dried herbs and cocoa.
Palate: A full bodied wine with black and red cherry, berry and plum fruit, vanilla and black licorice spice notes and subtle herbal notes of eucalyptus on entry. The mid palate is fresh and crisp with savory notes of dried herbs, cedar, graphite, and cocoa supported by firm tannins as the tasting progresses. The finish is long with sustained savory elements accented with notes of cherry candy. This balanced and textured wine is a versatile accompaniment to a wide variety of hearty dishes, like lamb or beef with herbs and garlic, or with a hearty veggie lasagna.
