Appearance: Medium ruby purple core and slightly lighter rim with lightly stained, moderate tearing in the glass.
Aroma: Aromatic and complex with black cherry, blackcurrant and plum matched with more savory dried herb and wood notes, baking spice, purple flower and chocolate.
Palate: Full-bodied with ripe black cherry and blackcurrant fruit on the entry mixed with savory herbal notes and barrel spice mixed with haunting violet floral elements. The mid-palate has a rich chocolate element and the finish is long with returning cherry joined by violet floral and subtle camphor notes surrounded by ripe chewy tannins. This is a Merlot made in a style that has its roots in the Bordeaux region and would be a perfect pairing with classic foods of that region like duck confit or cassoulet, as well as many hearty Basque dishes.
